Essentials Of CDR

The simple rule of thumb is that whatever you have
stored as a file on any other storage medium can
also be stored as a file on a CD-ROM. To the
recorder, a file is a file, and an ISO doesn’t
care whether or not the file contains pictures, text,
or even audio sound.

There are a few special cases, as to where you
would want to record a file to a CD in a special
type of format. The most obvious here is CD-DA
audio. If you wanted to record an audio file to
a CD so that you could play it back on your home
stereo, you would need to write a CD-DA (or Digital
Audio) disk.

When you copy data to a CD, you need to ensure that
your data doesn’t exceed the capacity of the CD
that you will be recording to. Due to the audio
requirements of CDs, the amount of information a
CD can hold is measured in minutes/seconds/sectors.
Each second can contain 75 sectors, each of which
are capable of holding 2,048 bytes of Mode 1 user
data.

By using the CD Size command in the edit menu, you
can set the capacity of the set you wish to
produce, which will help you to prevent exceeding
it. The status bar will show you how much space
you have used, how much remains free, and the
percentage of each one.

Even though this may sound a bit confusing at
first, keep in mind that it may take some time if
you are new to computers. Even though copying a
CD is quite easy, knowing the limits and how things
work is a bit more complex. Give it some time,
and you’ll be copying files to CD like the pros
do it.

Ergonomic Office Chairs

Ergonomic office chairs should help you to increase
back and neck support and also help to improve your
posture and help prevent slouching. Many employees of
the office often experience back pain because they sit
in their chair for extended periods of time. Doing
this will increase stress in the spine, neck, arms,
shoulders, and even the legs. By getting a chair
that isn’t ergonomically friendly, you could end up
aggravating any existing conditions you may have.

The ergonomic chair you select should be an inch wider
or more than your hips or thighs on both sides of the
chair. The seat pan on the chair should be contoured
for equal weight distribution and also to provide
maximum comfort. You should also make sure that your
back arches against the chair, as this will help to
prevent slumping.

A helpful feature to ergonomic office chairs is the
adjustable height mechanism. This can be a great essential
for busy office meeting rooms or conference rooms where
different people use the same chairs. Most chairs that
offer teh height mechanism will also allow you to fine
tune the back rest of the chair in all directions. If
your chair doesn’t have a back rest, you can simply use
a pillow or cushion to support your lower back.

All in all, ergonomic office chairs are ideal for those
who are at their desk extended periods of time. These
chairs don’t cost a lot of money either, yet they will
provide you a lot in terms of comfort and support. If
your office is in need of office chairs, the ergonomic
chairs are definitely worth adding to your office.

Equipment For Microbrews

Before you can start brewing beer, you’ll need to
have the right equipment. If this is your first
time brewing, you should start simple. Before
you begin, the first thing that you’ll need is a
brewpot. Before you rush out and buy one, you
may already have one that will work just fine.

The pot should hold at least three gallons of
liquid. The next thing you’ll need is a fermenter.
For the average five gallon batch, the fermenter
should hold six gallons or more, allowing space
for a foam that will form during the vigorous
process of fermentation.

For this stage, a glass carboy or food grade
plastic bucket is often used. You’ll also need
an airlock for your fermenter to allow the C02
to escape while also keeping the air out. A
siphon hose is also needed to transfer beer from
the fermenter when it’s ready, without having
to mix air into it.

A bottling bucket will also help to make the
process much easier. Bottling buckets are
similiar to fermenters, except the fact that they
have a spigot at the bottom that allows you to
fill the bottles directly, which makes the
entire process less messy and gets things done
much quicker. You’ll also need a capper to
seal your bottles; as bottles and caps or even
a keg will be needed to store and serve your
brew.

If you look around, you may be able to find a
kit that will contain everything you need. You
can purchase kits on the internet, many of
which offer the top quality equipment you’ll
need to brew. All you have to do is look around
the net, as there are many different web sites
that offer equipment for microbrews.

If you don’t want to buy a kit, you can always
buy each piece of equipment seperately. This
tends to be a bit more expensive than buying
a kit, although you’ll be able to pick each
piece of equipment yourself, without having to
take what’s included in the kit.

Once you get all of the necessary equipment
together, you should know how to use it before
you get started. This way, you won’t run into
any problems once you start brewing. The
equipment needed for brewing is easy to use, so
you shouldn’t have any problems.

Brewing microbrews can be both fun and exciting,
especially when you start brewing your own
creations. You can drink the brew yourself,
or serve it to friends and family. Microbrews
are fun to drink and create – which makes having
the proper equipment all the more while.

Engorged Breasts

Within the first two to three days after you have
given birth, you may discover that your breasts
feel swollen, tender, throbbing, lumpy, and
overly full. Sometimes, the swelling will extend
all the way to your armpit, and you may run a
low fever as well.

The causes
Within 72 hours of giving birth, an abundance
of milk will come in or become available to your
baby. As this happens, more blood will flow
to your breasts and some of the surrounding tissue
will swell. The result is full, swollen, engorged
breasts.

Not every postpartum mom experienced true
engorgement. Some women’s breasts become only
slightly full, while others find their breasts
have become amazingly hard. Some women will hardly
notice the pain, as they are involved in other
things during the first few days.

Treating it
Keep in mind, engorgement is a positive sign
that you are producing milk to feed to your
baby. Until you produce the right amount:
1. Wear a supportive nursing bra, even
at night – making sure it isn’t too tight.
2. Breast feed often, every 2 – 3 hours
if you can. Try to get the first side of your
breasts as soft as possible. If your baby seems
satisfied with just one breast, you can offer
the other at the next feeding.
3. Avoid letting your baby latch on and
suck when the areola is very firm. To reduce
the possibility of nipple damage, you can use
a pump until your areola softens up.
4. Avoid pumping milk except when you
need to soften the areola or when your baby
is unable to latch on. Excessive pumping can
lead to the over production of milk and prolonged
engorgement.
5. To help soothe the pain and relieve
swelling, apply cold packs to your breasts for
a short amount of time after you nurse. Crushed
ice in a plastic bag will also work.
6. Look ahead. You’ll get past this
engorgement in no time and soon be able to
enjoy your breast feeding relationship with your
new baby.

Engorgement will pass very quickly. You can
expect it to diminish within 24 – 48 hours, as
nursing your baby will only help the problem. If
you aren’t breast feeding, it will normally
get worse before it gets better. Once the
engorgement has passed, your breasts will be
softer and still full of milk.

During this time, you can and should continue to
nurse. Unrelieved engorgement can cause a drop
in your production of milk, so it’s important
to breast feed right from the start. Keep an
eye for signs of hunger and feed him when he
needs to be fed.

Editing HD Video

Working with the video of camcorders such as the Sony
HDR-HC1 can produce a serious business. HD video
contains four times the number of pixels that
standard definition offers, and it’s much more
heavily compressed.

Keep in mind that you need a powerful computer with
a lot of memory to deal with the extra data and
compression. Pinnacle for example, recommends a
minimum 512 MB of RAM and a graphics card with 128
MB of RAM for standard resolution video, although
that goes up to a GB of RAM and a 256 MB graphics
card when working with 1080i HD video.

You can find plenty of software available that
supports editing high definition videos. For example,
the latest versions of Pinnacle Studio and Ulead
Media Studio 8 can import and edit files in HDV
format.

Even though the high definition video with these
types of looks great when played back on an HDTV,
at the present time is there is no way store HD
video on a DVD. The only way you can store HD
video for playback is on your PC or the same type
of media you used in your HD camcorder.

There is however, a new generation of high definition
optical media format coming soon. Products that
are based on the HD-DVD and Blu-ray disc formats
are very expensive, and they will remain that way
for the near future.

HD-DVD players were announced a while back that
they will cost $500 and up, and will be available
very soon. You’ll also need one of the new HD-DVD
drives to write to the disc, which will cost as
much again. You can expect the same story with the
Blu-ray disc, as both the recorders and the players
are going to be expensive for a while to come.

There is one other option as well. There is a
DVD player from KISS, the DP-600, which can play
back high definition files that have been compressed
to Microsoft’s Windows Media 9 format. This can
at least provide a stop gap until the price of the
HD-DVD and Blue-ray disc players and writes come
down to an affordable price.

You can always play back the recorded video you
have through the camcorder itself, although you
shouldn’t expect to be able to write it out on a
disc with the current available equipment and
preserve its quality. If you wait it out, the new
generation of available media will be everything
you need for your HD video.

Eating Healthy When Eating Out

If you go out to a restaurant to eat, you probably
watch your calories very closely. To assist you
with your calorie watching when dining out, these
tips will help you make the most of it.

– Always order salad dressings or sauces on the side,
as this way you have control over how much you add
to your meal.

– When you order grilled fish or vegetables, you
should ask that the food be grilled without butter
or oil, or prepared with very little or either or.

– Anytime you order pasta dishes, be on the lookout
for tomato based sauces instead of the cream based
sauces. Tomato based sauces are much lower in fat
and calories, and tomato sauce can even be counted
as a vegetable!

– You should always try to drink water, diet soda,
or tea instead of soda or beverages that contain
alcohol.

– If you order dessert, share with a friend. Half
of the dessert will equal half of the calories.

– When you choose a soup, remember that cream
based soups are higher in fat and calories than
other soups. A soup can be a great appetizer, as
most are low in calories and you fill you up pretty
fast.

– When ordering a baked potato, ask for salsa instead
of sour cream, butter, cheese, or even bacon. Salsa
is very low in calories and provides a healthy
alternative with plenty of flavor and spice.

– When you are full, stop eating. Listen to your
body and what it tells you.

– If you get full, take half of your meal home.
The second portion of your meal can serve as a second
meal later. This way, you get two meals for the
price of one.

– If you’re looking to eat less, order two appetizers
or an appetizer and a salad as your meal.

– If you get a choice of side dishes, get a baked
potato or steamed vegetables instead of french
fries.

– Always look for food on the menu that’s baked,
grilled, broiled, poached, or steamed. These types
of cooking use less fat in the cooking process and
are usually much lower in calories.

– Plain bread or rolls are low in both fat and
calories. When you add the butter and oil, you
increase the fat and calorie intake.

– As key ingredients to your meal, choose dishes
with fruits and vegetables. Both fruits and
vegetables are great sources of dietary fiber as
well as many vitamins and minerals.

– Choose foods made with whole grains, such as
whole wheat bread and dishes made with brown rice.

– If you crave dessert, look for something with
low fat, such as berries or fruit.

– Always remember not to deprive yourself of the
foods you truly love. All types of foods can fit
into a well balanced diet.
