How to Choose Craft Ink for Scrapbooks

How to choose pens and protectors

Once you gather your glue, paper, photos, embellishments, etc, you will need to consider ink to mark your scrapbook. Ink is important to label photos and embellishments, including adding dates, names, locations, etc. While the marketplace sells a variety of pens, it is important to know the craft types that will give you a lasting memo.

How to choose ink:
Black felt-tip pens are sufficed to handle craft scrapbook projects. Use the pen to label, mark, or write journals. If you intend to mark the back of your photos, use the grease and/or waxy pens. One of the best pens to use is the Photo Marker. The pen is has a fine tip and is a black permanent marker. The pen however allows you to use cloth to remove any writing from the back of your photos. You may want to learn about the guidelines for “CK OK pens.” The pens are tested and approved by Craft experts.

Pens include the light fast and the fade resistance pens. Waterproof, odorless, non-toxic, etc, are ideal pens for scrapbook projects. The pens should not present any odor once the ink has dried. In addition, the pen should be highly resistant to changes, i.e. it should be a permanent swift drying pen. You want to look for the pens that do not bleed, as well as for the pens that do not migrate. In short, look for craft pens with the seal “P.A.T.” (Photo Activity Test)

Once you choose your pens, you will need protectors. Protectors should be PVC integrated. In short, you will need odorless protectors. Protectors will shield your scrapbook once it is complete from acids, or other damaging elements.

How to choose protectors:
Protectors include the complete page covers. The protectors will help you to organize your photos while protecting them from slips. You can add memos while using protectors. Page protectors are another type of covering for your scrapbook. In short, page protectors are sheets of plastic. You can purchase the top-loaders, or side-loaders. You can use the sheets, since it has holes to make up binders as well. The economical page protectors include the lightweight. The lightweight protectors are thinner than the medium and heavy protectors are.

How to choose plastics:
To choose plastics consider enclosures, sheets, and encapsulation. The plastic should be made up of polyethylene, polypropylene, and/or polyester. Vinyl should not be used to protect your photos. You will need colorless, clear plastic protectors combined with a P.A.T., seal. The plastic should be odorless and untreated. You want quality plastic that does not include plasticizers. The surface should have coating, yet the sides should not. If you want to protect your scrapbooks, i.e. photos, embellishments use the UV inhibitors. Ultimately, you can use the sheets, which absorbs.

The non-glare or clear plastics should be considered when purchasing protectors. Non-glare will reduce glares shining on your pages with its matte alike elements. The clear is ok, yet unlike the non-glare, you do not get the luxury of reducing smudging, or fingerprints. To learn more about the latest pens and protectors go online where you will find a variety of products available to you. Do not forget to search for the seals.

Another type of protector is the panoramic pages. Page is great if you want to view four-sides of your spreads. The protector is great for creating vacation scrapbooks. Once you gather your pens and protectors, you want to move onto paper. The cardstocks is ideal for designing quality scrapbooks that will last a long time.

How the Skeletal Muscles cause Back Pain

The skeletal bones make up more than 200 short, long, irregular, and flat structures. Inside the bones is calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and RBCs, or marrow, which produces and generate red blood cells. The bones work along side the muscles. The muscles and bones afford support, defense for the internal organs, and locomotion.

The skeletal muscles are our source of mobility, which supports the posture. The muscles work alongside the posture by shortens and tighten it. The bones attach to the muscles via tendons. The muscle then starts to contract with stimulus of muscle fibers via a motor nerve cell, or neuron. The neurons consist of axon, cell bodies, and dendrites, which transport to the nerve impulses and are the essential makeup of our functional components within the larger system of nerves. (Central Nervous System-CNS) CNS is a network or system of nerve cells, fibers, etc, that conveys and transmits sensations to the brain, which carries on to the “motor impulses” and onto the organs and muscles.

Skeletal muscles supply movement for the body and the posture; as well, the skeletal muscles also submit energies to create contractions that form from ATP or adenosine Triphosphate and hydrolysis, ADP or adenosine Diphosphate and finally phosphate.

The skeletal muscles also preserve muscle tone. What happen are the skeletal acts as a retainer by holding back a degree of contractions and breaking down acetylcholine by cholinesterase to relax the muscles? Muscles are made up of ligaments.

Ligaments are robust bands combined with collagen threads or fiber that connect to the bones. The bands, fiber, and bones join to encircle the joints, which gives one a source of strength. Body weight requires cartilages, joints, ligaments, bones, muscles, etc to hold its weight. Next to ligaments are tendons. Tendons are ligaments and muscles combined, since it connects to the muscles and are made of connective proteins, or collagen. Tendons however do not possess the same flexibility as the ligaments do. Tendons make up fiber proteins that are found in cartilages, bones, skin, tendons, and related connective tissues.

Joints are the connective articulated junctions between the bones. Joints connect to two bones and its plane and provide stability as well as locomotion. ROM is the degree of joint mobility, which if ROM is interrupted, the joints swell, ache, and cause pain. The pain often affects various parts of the body, including the back. Joints connect with the knees, elbow, skull, bones, etc, and work between the synovium. Synovium is a membrane. The membrane lines the inner plane of the joints. Synovium is essential since it supplies antibodies. The antibodies combined with this membrane create fluids that reach the cartilages. The fluids help to decrease resistance, especially in the joints. Synovium works in conjunction with the cartilages and joints.

Cartilage is the smooth plane between the bones of a joint. The cartilage will deteriorate with restricted ROM or lack of resistance in the weight bearing joints. This brings in the bursa. Bursa is a sac filled with fluid. Bursa assists the joints, cartilages, bones, and synovium by reducing friction. Bursa also works by minimizing the risks of joints rubbing against the other. In short, bursa is padding.

If fluids increase, it can cause swelling, and inflammation in turn causing body pain, and including back pain. Sometimes the pain starts at the lower back, yet it could work around various areas of the body. The assessments in this situation revolve around symptoms, including pain, fatigue, numbness, limited mobility, joint stiffness, fevers, swelling, and so on. The results of skeletal muscle difficulties can lead to muscle spasms, poor posture, skeletal deformity, edema, inflammation, and so on. As you see from the medical versions of the skeletal muscles, back pain results from limited ROM, joint stiffness, etc.

How Many Mega-Pixels Do I Need?

One of the confusing things in choosing a digital camera is deciding how many mega-pixels you should look for. The answer depends on what you plan on doing with the finished pictures.

First, you need to understand what a pixel is. In terms of digital prints, a pixel simply means a dot of color that makes up the image. A mega-pixel is equal to one million pixels. The more mega-pixels a camera has, the greater the amount of information it records.

The easiest way to decide what to look for is to know what size prints you are likely to print from your camera. A one mega-pixel camera is fine for those who don’t plan on printing photos but rather just post them on the internet. A small print, say 4 x 6, will print acceptably from this camera.

A 2 mega-pixel camera will enable you to produce good quality 5 x 7 prints and fair quality 8 x 10 prints. When you reach 4 mega-pixels you can print out excellent quality 8 x 10 prints and acceptable 11 x 17 prints and a 5 mega pixel camera will allow you to print out high quality 11 x 17 prints.

Most families find a camera in the 3.2 Mega-pixel range to be the best choice. The quality of both 5 x & and 8 X 10 prints is very good yet the files on your computer are not so large you need worry about not having enough space.

Any camera over 5 mega-pixels is unnecessary for all but professionals in photography; even then, only those who have need for poster-size prints find that many mega-pixels worth the money. Most freelance photographers find 4 or 5 mega-pixels to be sufficient for excellent-quality prints.

The choice is yours. Look to what you plan on doing with your photos and then decide. In most cases spending the money for increased optical zoom and lower mega-pixels is the best choice.

How Back Pain Starts

When considering back pain we must concern ourselves with its variants. For instance, back pain can start with slip disks, which in medical terms is called “Herniated nucleus pulposa.” (HNP) Doctors define slip disks as ruptures of the “intervertebral disk.” The intervertebral rests between the vertebrae (Spinal Column) of the backbone.

The interruption has variants, including the “Lumbrosacral,” (L4 and L5) as well as cervical C5-7. The cervical is at the neck and belongs to other parts of the back and neck as well. When doctors consider slip disks they often look through etiology, which includes neck and back strains, trauma, congenital/inborn bone malformation, heavy lifting, degenerated disks, and/or weakness of ligaments.

After carefully considering, etiology doctors consider Pathophysiology, which includes protrusions of the “nucleus pulposus.” The center connects to the column or spinal canal and perhaps compressing the spinal cord or the nerve core, or roots, which causes back pain. If the spinal cord is compressed restraining the roots and cord often back pain, numbness, and the motor functions may fail.

The assessments in medical terms are based on Lumbrosacral, which may include acute or chronic pain at the lower back. The pain may spread out to the buttocks and move toward the legs. The person may feel weakness, as well as numbness. In addition, such pain can cause tingling around the legs and foot. The final assessment may include ambulation, which emerges from pain.

The cervical is considered. The symptoms experts look for is neck rigidity, deadness, weakness, and “tingling of the” hands. If the neck pain spreads the pain down to the arms and continue to the hands, experts will consider slip disks. Yet other symptoms may occur, such as weakness that affects the farthest points, or the higher boundaries of the body. The lumbar curves is at the lower back region and is situated in the loins or the smaller area of the back, which doctors consider also, especially if the patient has difficult straightening this area with the curvature of the spine (scoliosis) and away from the area influenced.

When doctors consider back pain, they will review the diagnostics after conducting a series of tests. Diagnostics may arise from tendon reflex, x-rays, EMG, myelograms, CSF, and/or Laséque signs. CSF helps the doctor to analyze the increases in protein while EMG assists experts in viewing the involvement of the spinal nerves. X-rays are used to help experts see the narrow disk space. Tendon reflexes are tested, which the doctors use tests to look deep into the depressed region, or the absent upper boundary reflexes, or in medical lingo the Achilles’ reactions or reflex. Myelograms assist the expert in seeing if the spinal cord is compressed. The tests start if the Laséque signs show positive results behind etiology findings, Pathophysiology, assessments, and so on.
How doctors manage slip disks:
Doctors prescribe management in medical schemes to isolate or relieve back pain. The management schemes may include diet whereas the calories are set according to the patient’s metabolic demands. The doctor may increase fiber intake, as well as force fluids.

Additional treatment or management may include hot pads, moisture, etc, as well as hot compressions. Doctors often recommend pain meds as well, such as those with NAID. The pain meds include Motrin, Naproxen, Dolobid, or Diflunisal, Indocin, ibuprofen, and so on. Additional meds may include muscle Relaxers, such as Flexeril and Valiums. The common Relaxers are diazepam and cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride, which diazepam is valiums and the other Flexeril.

Orthopedic mechanisms are also prescribed to reduce back pain, which include cervical collars and back braces.

All About Hospitalists and Why Companies Are Outsourcing Them

Firstly, you have to understand what a hospitalist is. Hospitalists are doctors who specialize or focus on hospital medicine. Meaning these doctors consider the hospital as their office. Hospitalists are involved in patient care, research, teaching and leadership related to hospital care.

Hospitalists focus around the site of care, which is the hospital, unlike cardiology, that focuses on a single organ and oncology that focuses on diseases. Hospitalists help manage patient care in the hospital. They often see patients in the ER, admit them to inpatient wards, and cares for them even after being hospitalized.

The activity of a hospitalist focuses on hospital care for inpatients. They provide another way to improve and also assist in the traditional patient-doctor relationship. They also do not have any outside practices and focuses. Because of this, hospitalists are able to take care and have more time for hospital patients.

Today, there are organizations and companies that provide hospitalist physicians in hospitals all over the world in a contractual basis. This is because they are able to provide service to primary healthcare physicians who are regulars in the hospital’s medical staff. This means that they will be responsible for outpatient and emergency room care patients if a member of the medical staff doesn’t want the responsibility.

Another benefit that the hospital can take advantage of if they hire Hospitalists is that they will be able to move patients to the recovery process faster. Hospitals will now be able to do this without sacrificing the quality of hospital care. This means that it will eventually ease the frequent needs of the hospital on holding patients in the emergency department and also on the admission.

Hospitalist programs can eventually benefit the physicians, the hospital and the patient:

For physicians, it will enable regular healthcare physicians to concentrate in their medical practice. This will also allow them to improve their skills and it will also enable them to use their time more efficiently. The hospitalist system will eventually eliminate or at least decrease the on-call responsibility of primary healthcare physicians on patients who are not yet assigned to a physician, and it will also have reimbursement advantages.

Hospitals will also benefit from hospitalist programs. This is because it actually reduces the patient’s length of stay and the hospital costs to about 15%. This program will also decrease the number of admissions that are inappropriate and the number of days denied for managed care companies. A hospitalist program also provides satisfaction rating for the patient and the family and it also improves relationship between the physician and the patient.

For patients, studies have found that after being taken care of hospitalists, patients also prefers the hospitalist concept rather than wanting their own doctor to take care of them during their stay at the hospital. The hospitalist is always in the hospital and is readily available for the patient’s needs. They will be able to answer questions from both the families and the patients.

Think of hospitalists as outsourced physicians by a company. Hospitals now hire outsourced hospitalists in order to improve the quality of hospital care and to satisfy their in-house medical staff and also their patient. Having hospitalists in a hospital will ensure round-the-clock quality care for patient and at the same time, reduce the cost that a hospital may spend for patients.

They will be the ones who will admit, and take care of the patient on the duration of time they are admitted in the hospital. With hospitalists, you will never again wait for your doctor to take care of you. Care will always be there 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Home Remedy, An Alternative Treatment for Snoring

Lying on a bed, thinking of the day’s activities and finally, thanking God for all the day’s blessings; and now, it’s time to go to sleep. Your eyelid slowly closes, and you find yourself drifting to a deep sleep when you’re jolted out of your bed only to hear the sound of terrible snoring.

Now, you’re wide awake and all you can hear are the cries of insects at night and that horrible snoring. What a terrific way to spend your sleep at night.

Most couples are that way. Snoring is probably the most known cause of major marital strife. But instead of cursing your loved one, why not start encouraging him/her to get medical help. The snoring is not only harmful to the one who actually puts up with the noise every night, but also to the snorer as well.

Some people refuse to get medical help because their primary reason is the cost of the treatment. Yes, treating people who snores are quite expensive, but this doesn’t mean though that you have no other choices. In fact, there are a lot of home remedies which you can choose from.

The best, and yet the most difficult of all snoring remedies, is changing your lifestyle for much better habits in life. The first thing is to lose unwanted weight. Most people who are considered fat have fats stored in their throat and neck regions. These fats collapse your throat making your snoring even louder. Eating heavy meals at night is not advisable because it can also cause snoring. Sleeping pills and alcohol are also known to cause snoring among individuals that causes the muscles in your mouth’s back to relax. Smoking is another habit that you should get rid of. All this things are part of your unhealthy lifestyle. Perhaps now you will have an idea what your lifestyle is doing to your family life.

Another home snoring remedy is to sleep at your side or your stomach. If you have a companion, more often than not, he/she will be glad to help you to roll back just in case you shift your sleeping position. For a couple to get a good night sleep, the ‘give and take’ relationship is still needed. You will help the other in staying in his sleeping position while you will be rid of any snoring noise.

Another home remedy is to elevate the snorer’s heads while sleeping. Using too many pillows to elevate the head is not advisable because it can only worsen the snoring. Instead, you are required to use a flat pillow against an entirely elevated head-side of the bed. The elevation should be about four to six inches.

Watch out for symptoms of sleep apnea. If your bed mate exhibits frequent cessation of breathing while he sleeps, then that is a danger sign. You now have a harmful disorder, which requires medical attention.

Home remedies are good, especially if you can’t afford expensive treatments. If you can do all these home remedies effectively, perhaps you don’t need to spend a lot of money in treating that horrible snore.

You’re not alone in your sleeplessness problem. There are many people out there who are in the same situation. Try the home remedies and get rid of that horrible snore.

Home Remedies for Snoring People, Why Not?

Tired of waking up in the middle of the night because of your bedtime-partner’s loud snores? Or do you ever wish your snoring would suddenly stop because you, yourself is just plain tired of it? Well guess what, snoring can be cured inside your very own home. Here are some facts and tips to stop unwanted snores in your abode.

Before anything else, what is really snoring and what causes it? According to studies, Stertor, the medical term for snoring, is made from the vibrations of air, forced in a small opening at the back of a stuffed throat.

Snoring occurs when we are sleeping, for while doing so, the muscles in our upper airway tend to relax and wilt inward. When these muscles relax more than the usual, our air passage is blocked, making it difficult for the air to pass toward our lungs, our breathing stops for a brief period (apnea), thus resulting to snoring.

During apnea, an increase in the level of carbon dioxide happens. Our body will react to it and it will affect our heart rate and narrow our blood vessels. The more these muscles relax, the louder people would snore.

Some people are even unaware that they are snoring, with matching tossing and turning, and just waking up feeling tired and restless, or have poor quality of sleep. Some can even hear themselves snores when they are half-awake.

There are also many factors that may cause snoring. These are obesity, alcohol and smoking, enlarged tonsils and sinusitis, or blocked nose caused by colds.

Changing lifestyles can help stop snoring. When you’re overweight, an increase of fat deposition in our upper airways occurs, narrowing these muscles. The best way to stop snoring is through exercising and losing weight.

Have time in exercising for your homes and eat a proper diet or just change your eating pattern. Exercising is the easiest and most effective way in treating snoring in our homes. In exercising, concentrate more in your jaw because this is one of the common blocks that causes snoring. When your tensed jaw is relaxed, it would stop the snoring.

If you have vices such as smoking and drinking too much alcohol, reduce them. Just minimize drinking especially at nights, no harm done! No more snoring at nights and your health just took one step away from danger.

Some studies also show that the position in our sleep also causes snoring. According to them, sleeping facing up blocks our airway passage. So it is advisable to change our sleeping position, may it be on the side or facing down, in order to get rid of our snoring.

In children, enlarged tonsils, blocked nose caused by colds and upper respiratory tract soreness are major causes of snoring. When our nose is blocked, we tend to breathe through our mouth, this starts our snoring. So when you have colds, cure it immediately in order to avoid snoring.

There you have it, some of the simplest home-based remedy for your snoring. It is really necessary to stop and find remedies in your snoring. This can affect our moods and our relationship to other people.

The home-remedies mentioned above are really great help to those who snore. They may not cure everyone’s problems with regards to snoring but they can minimize or lessen them. Of coarse, medicines and other devices such as throat sprays are used, but it has side effects and some are not that effective. It is still better to treat this ‘disease’ naturally, no side effects, and no penny lost.
